The nice folks from Board Games Galway are going to be doing a day of Board Games and related frivolities, starting from about 12:30 pm (that’s the “around lunchtime” 12:30, not the “you should be in bed” one) tomorrow, Saturday the 21st. This has been publicized on the ol’ Book of Faces ™ ahead of time, sorry about the lack of notice here.
Bring your game faces!!!
(€3 in for regulars, free for first timers. Strictly not-for-profit, the money gets rolled back into buying more games!)
Just to let you all know that the Board Gaming will be on again this coming Thursday, the 6th of January, at the usual time (seven-ish). Be randomly evil in Munchkin, embrace your inner Cylon in Battlestar Galactica, or smite your foes with the aid of the Greek gods in Cyclades! The Board Games Galway folks have other games too, so drop down and say hello!
Whether you’re wearing a tinsel scarf (itchy much?) or grumping “bah humbug” these days, those of us in the labs are having a little shindig this evening. Things are being baked, eggs are being nogged, brews are being homed (!?) and various machinations are afoot in order to bring government sanctioned Christmas cheer at gunpoint fun, frolics and festivities to the ‘space tonight. Yes, those of us who do not pray at the altar of the book of Faces are a little behind the times, it seems, as this was posted there a week or so ago.
Whether you’ve been in to the space before or not, drop in, say hello, and (if you can) bring something party-shaped, preferably of a food/drink nature. It’ll be a casual affair, and will kick off around 7/8…ish.
On the subject of Christmas, I want this tree:
You can find out more about the Christmas tree here if you haven’t seen it before.
The second class of the “Python for Non-Programmers” kicks off in the space tonight from 8pm. Duncan will be carrying on from where he left off last week, and will be looking at producing useful programs in Python.
Don’t forget to bring your laptops. We have a few “house” machines but they don’t stretch far…
Yesterday’s Ignite Galway talks were a fantastic success – thanks to our speakers, members who helped organize, and to everyone that turned up. Video and audio will be forthcoming, but for now here’s some photos:
